The big orange stopper

so... I went roller skating last night... Things to be noted:

1. The skates haven't changed. They are still brown w/ orange wheels and an orange stopper

2. I have a much higher center of gravity than I did when I was 12

3. and people still wear acid wash jean shorts...

Winging it

It's SXSW time again in Austin. Last year (my first year) I actually had a wrist band thanks to a generous benefactor. I had a really great time, heard a lot of good music, met many cool people, and probably slept a total of 8 hours that week while going to work. I only had to call in sick once. This year, due to lack of said benefactor and partener in crime ;) I didn't really have any expectations of attending any of it. It's hard enough just to get in w/ the wristbands so I thought I might catch a few shows that were using the SXSW name, but not actually on the schedule. It was great!! I highly reccomend it. I plan to do the same w/ ACL next time around.

Eine kleine school loan

WOO HOO! I made the last payment on my school loan today!! one step closer to my very first car payment!! This was a much needed accomplishment since lately I have been feeling as though my life had stalled out. Finally the ball is rolling again...(hopefully ;) )

BANG!

Along w/ drinking 4 cups of coffee I briefly entertained the idea of becoming a "muppeteer"... On this particularly (self imposed) slow day at work I managed to read a book about Jim Henson, whose work I love, and whom I found out used to be a designer. My favorite quote: "When you can't think of an ending, go out w/ a bang!"

Super secret plans

My super secret plan to become a bass playing rocker chic has been set in motion… A friend graciously accepted my hair brained scheme of guitar lessons for design work for their band. ;) I'm so excited!

Going going back back to Cali Cali

I'm back... Physically speaking of course. I just spent a week out in sunny CA with the folks. It was a nice time. I discovered that I can go about a day and a half w/o caffeine before a raging headache sets in...Trips to the local coffee shops were frequent.

The temperature there is a nice temperate 70-75. On the days it got up to 80 my mother and everyone we spoke to complained of the heat... My mother has already forgotten her roots.

All in all the trip was a good time and a nice break from reality. (Thank God it's October already!!) While I was there we visited the Santa Monica Museum of art in Bergamont Station, an old train station that houses a bunch of galleries. All of the art was modern which I love so it was pretty exciting for me.

Worst burn ever

It's amazing how words can create the same effect as someone physically sticking their hand into my chest, ripping my heart out and playing hacky sack w/ it. :)

Break-ups suck...

2nd post ever

Wow! I really should take advantage of this thing more often. Here is a link to an article I found (while I was hard at work yesterday) by one of my favorite authors, Kurt Vonnegut: http://www.inthesetimes.com/site/main/article/cold_turkey/

He is alittle too pessimistic about society, even for me, but I like the cold turkey analogy and I think he makes some interesting points.

Second thought: I'm at that point in my life where everyone around me is getting married. AHHHHH!!
